Position Overview:

We are seeking a DevOps / App Migration Consultant with a strong background in Java and AWS to join our team. In this role, you will focus on migrating and deploying applications onto existing Kubernetes clusters (Amazon EKS or similar). While proficiency with AWS CDK (ideally in TypeScript) is a plus, it is not a strict requirement. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on optimizing cloud-based environments and ensuring seamless application deployments—without the need to build out or manage extensive CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Application Migration
  • Assess current Java applications and plan effective migration strategies to containerized environments on AWS.
  • Work with stakeholders to define migration timelines, success criteria, and post-migration optimizations.
• Kubernetes Deployment
  • Deploy and configure applications to existing Kubernetes clusters (primarily on Amazon EKS).
  • Ensure best practices around container orchestration, security, and resource usage are followed.
• AWS Infrastructure Support
  • Leverage core AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch) to support application performance and availability.
• Java Application Troubleshooting & Optimization
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with Java-based applications during and after migration.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
• Collaboration & Documentation
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand application requirements and constraints.
  • Maintain clear documentation of migration processes, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Java Proficiency
  • Strong ability to design, develop, and troubleshoot Java-based applications.
  • Familiarity with common Java frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate).
• AWS Experience
  • Hands-on experience with core AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, IAM).
  • Understanding of security best practices, networking, and cost optimization within AWS environments.
• Kubernetes/EKS
  • Proven experience working with Kubernetes (preferably Amazon EKS) for application deployment.
  • Familiarity with containerization standards (e.g., Docker) and basic cluster management tasks.
• App Migration Expertise
  • Demonstrated experience in migrating on-premise or cloud-based applications to AWS.
  • Ability to plan and execute end-to-end migrations, including post-migration optimization.
• Communication & Collaboration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• CDK & TypeScript Experience - Familiarity with writing AWS CDK templates in TypeScript.
• AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or AWS Certified Solutions Architect).

Education & Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in a DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering role.
• Proven track record of working on large-scale application migrations and cloud implementations.
