About the role:

The Quantitative Engineering & AI Team in ASA is seeking a Quantitative Engineer to develop and maintain climate risk models for BlackRock’s climate analytics product. In this role, you will collaborate with the research and modeling team to implement quantitative models and analytics for climate risk. You will have the opportunity to work on technical solutions for complex problems – we use both a Python-based domain specific language and Python itself to develop quantitative models. You will also gain a lot of knowledge about the business — you will be exposed to BlackRock’s process of modeling climate risk and financial risk using diverse data sources. You will work on one of the most relevant topics in finance and business — climate risk analytics — and you will join a team of experts to together create a product that leads the industry.

 

Key responsibilities:

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in computer science, financial engineering, statistics, applied mathematics, operation research, or other quantitative disciplines; graduate degree and research experience are preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a software engineering, quantitative development, or data operation team
  • Proficient in Python and shell scripting within Unix-like operating systems.
  • Well-versed in SQL database management and operations.
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of software design and architecture principles, ensuring robust and scalable system development.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse, global team setting.
  • Exhibits a strong sense of curiosity with a proven capacity to learn and adapt swiftly.
  • Passionate about sustainability issues and asset management industry
  • Experience with financial and economic research and quantitative modeling is a plus
  • Experience with cloud platform and Cloud Native technology is a plus
