Job description 

How You Will Contribute: 

We are currently seeking a Data Scientist to join our Blue Planet Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, developing, testing, and deploying AI and ML use cases on top of Blue Planet products. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of data scientists, backend developers, and frontend developers, working together to enable AI across our entire portfolio. As part of this team, you will:

 

  • Analyze and interpret complex datasets to create actionable insights and solutions
  • Develop, test, and implement predictive models and machine learning algorithms
  • Present findings to stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner
  • Participate in all phases of the development cycle – plan, design, implement, review, test, deploy, document, and train. 
  • Collaborate with other technical leads and architects on system architecture and design.
  • Influence architectural decisions, participate in design/code reviews, test plans and technology strategy.
  • Work closely and efficiently with other software development teams as well as product line management, architecture, and product verification teams.
  • Cultivate an environment of continuous improvement in software engineering practices and product quality.
  • Daily collaboration with software engineers, testers, UI developers and data scientists
  • Work in a distributed team environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our products are current and competitive.
  • Occasional interactions with partners and customers

 

The Must Haves:   

Required experience and skills:

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD (preferred) degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Physics, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Data Scientist or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, with a good knowledge of its ecosystems.
  • Ability to quickly analyze, visualize, and gain insights about a dataset.
  • Experience in training, testing, and deploying machine learning models.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g. git).
  • Experience developing data-driven applications.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, data modelling, and software architecture.
  • Excellent statistical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex solutions in a simple, actionable way.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong desire to constantly learn and grow, with a passion to drive innovation.

 

Good to Have:

  • Proficiency in Scala and other programming languages an asset.
  • Experience architecting web-based software applications using Scala or Java and REST APIs (Play framework an asset).
  • Experience with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Experience with linux-based systems and bash.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Plotly, Matplotlib, Grafana, or similar.
  • Experience with big data tools such as SQL, Pandas, Spark, or similar.
  • Experience with ML tools such as xgboost, mlflow, scikit-learn, tensorflow, kedro
  • Experience with building tools that leverage LLMs
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Proven experience in data management and data preprocessing.
  • Professional certifications related to data science or machine learning would be a plus.
  • Experience with telecom networks (LAN, WAN, Wireless), NOCs, TAC, OSS an asset
