Summary of Position:

 

 

Alcon is looking to hire Data Scientist for QRA team. ​The role provides support to Alcon’s matrix organization through business process analysis, applying advanced analytics methods to support strategic objectives. The role ensures activities conducted for Alcon comply with all regulations, guidelines, directives, and standards established by the relevant regulatory agencies.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Apply advanced analytics techniques and scientific principles to extract valuable information from data for business decision-making, strategic planning and other uses.
  • Analyze incongruous data to gain insights for potential opportunities in the areas of AI injection, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory Affairs Management to develop a robust program to track internal processes and support continuous improvement by identifying process/data gaps, redundancies, and inaccuracies and managing development of high value/innovative changes using Six Sigma/Agile.
  • Review and monitor data across functional areas to ensure consistency and application of data standards and data quality.
  • Develop and implement governance procedures and support documentation for Digital Quality and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Drive data-based decision-making support globally, including regional and affiliate levels.
  • Provide systems support to all functions (MTO, QA, RA, Vigilance, etc.) during internal and external audits, as needed, globally.
  • Liaison between the Business and IT, Data Analysts, Data Engineers, and other Alcon departments (Sales, Customer Service, R&D, etc.)
  • Provide tools for Quality and Regulatory Affairs Management to oversee and maintain business process implementation.

 

 

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Data mining, predictive analytics, ML/NLP and data visualization, as well as statistics, mathematics and software programming.
  • Ability to work independently with competing priorities
  • Predictive modeling and leveraging business intelligence tools for informed decision making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including deep knowledge and application of statistics
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various business functions and stakeholders
  • Strong Data Science background and excellent knowledge on various advanced techniques such as Classification and Regression, Decision Trees, Forecasting, Text Analytics / NLP, AI, ML etc.
  • Preferred technical competencies: Cognos, PostgreSQL, Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), Alteryx, AWS Cloud, AI, ML, Tableau, PostgreSQL, R, Python, Product Quality Framework

Education : Graduation, preferably in Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related area.

Experience requirement: Minimum: 5 years’ work experience in the field of data science, advanced mathematics, statistics. Work experience in the regulated medical device / Pharmaceutical industry. CSV/CSA, GxP knowledge, Quality Assurance.

What role you will play in our team We are seeking an advanced data scientist at the Bangalore Technology Center (BTC) who can provide technical expertise, strategic and cross-functional leadership to generate maximum business value from data science by working with computational and data scientists as well as business domain experts across engineering, geoscience, and commercial domains.  You will be able to scope new opportunities, develop, and deploy data-driven models, automate workflows, and generate insights that lead to significant business value for ExxonMobil's multiple value chains.  Opportunity scope ranges from accurately predicting subsurface properties using machine learning; predicting failure of machinery using historical data, and using advanced analytics to increase revenue from commercial sale of fuels and lubricants.  You will have access to massive data sets, immense compute power and challenging, previously unsolved problems in the oil and gas domain What you will do Be a part of a growing organization comprising computational, data scientists and optimization experts working to solve challenging business problems by developing and applying state-of-the-art machine learning techniques. Communicate recommendations and solutions from data science applications to business partners and influence and drive business uptake of the proposed solutions Help screen and prioritize ideas based on technical feasibility and value maximization Advise senior business line management on challenges and opportunities in the data science space in the various domains; identify and champion new opportunities Provide technical leadership, consulting, and mentorship to early-career engineers, computational and data scientists Work with software and data architecture experts to understand and influence architectural decisions to drive effective development of data-driven solutions for the business About You Skills and Qualifications Master's or PhD from a recognized university in engineering, mathematical sciences, physics or related quantitative discipline with GPA 7.0 (out of 10.0) and above 10+ years of experience in developing and building data science solutions to solve business problems in an engineering or related field In-depth knowledge and practical experience in applying statistical analysis techniques, such as classification, regression, time-series, Bayesian techniques, etc. and machine learning techniques, such as decision-trees, ensemble methods, neural networks, validation methods etc. Experience in developing, applying, and analyzing physics-based and/or data driven computational models and simulations is an advantage Practical experience in the full machine learning life cycle from problem formulation, data acquisition, modeling building, and deployment at enterprise scale.
