About the Role: The Content Development Specialist is responsible for the assessment and development of Special Issues, as well as assisting with the general expansion of Wiley’s Special Issue programs. Reporting to the Senior Manager and working closely with the rest of the Content Development Services team, and wider Marketing and Publishing departments, the holder of this role will be responsible for supporting the successful selection and deployment of Special Issues (including liaising with Guest Editorial teams, Chief Editors and other journal Editorial staff), as well as supporting their promotion and reporting once published. This role spans Operations and Publishing functions and requires someone who has an interest in working across these areas. How you will make an impact: Assessment and processing Assess submitted Special Issue proposals and Guest Editor teams based on clearly defined criteria Making key decisions at different stages of the evaluation workflow, in order to ensure quality and integrity Aid in the management of the Special Issue proposal pipeline and working with the wider Content Development Services team to coordinate the progression of content through the department’s systems and workflows in a timely manner, in order to meet target turnaround times. Communicating with Guest Editorial teams, journal Editorial Board Members and other stakeholders, as required, to facilitate processing and decision making Liaise with Customer Services and other organisational functions on contact made to Content Development Services team and support internal and external stakeholders with queries and issues Nurturing and development Provide guidance, advice, and support to Guest Editorial teams on how to improve their Special Issue proposal Liaise with Guest Editorial, Journal Editorial, Strategic Content Acquisition and Publishing teams to ensure the development of the most relevant and high-potential Special Issues Identify and resolve potential issues in the development of Special Issues, liaising with Operations teams as required Contribute to and lead internal and cross-departmental projects to advance workflow efficiency, screening quality and overall departmental strategy and reporting What we look for: Ideally, you’d be educated to a degree level with an interest in science or preferably a scientific degree or education. Experience in scholarly publishing, along with an understanding of Open Science and the wider publishing and research landscape, is desirable. The role holder has a strong work ethic with the ability to handle multiple priorities and respond quickly to changing requirements. The role holder always keeps key objectives and targets in mind when carrying out all plans and activities. The role holder is an eminently reliable team player who responds well to a varied workload and is excited about playing a pivotal role in serving our Editors and authors.
