Responsibilities Managerial: To be the lead engineer of a project for engineering and installation. To co-ordinate with the front offices and project managers for technical queries and resolution. To be able to meet project schedule and estimates. To follow quality procedures; to maintain quality records and checklists. To have external contact, including direct interface with other PWS offices and the customer at site. Technical: To be able to develop controls and graphics with accuracy. To develop tie-back simulation logic for testing. To review and test the controls and graphics with required accuracy. To develop the required DCS knowledge to meet the requirements of site and in-house projects. To attend project FAT. To travel to project sites for testing and tuning of various electrical control functions, for third-party communication and for commissioning. Knowledge To have knowledge of Boolean logic. To have a general knowledge of electrical equipment like switchboards, generators, turbines, AVRs, motors, transformers, capacitors, CTs, VTs, feeders, meters, relays. To have knowledge of the Ovation system. To have knowledge of Ovation system hardware like database or software server, various HMIs, controllers, I/O modules. To have knowledge of the Ovation network structure. To have knowledge of third-party communication using OPC, Modbus, IEC60870-5-101/104, IEC61850 protocols, and their configuration. To be able to read electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), and switchboard control logic drawings. To gain knowledge of control of various electrical control functions and their required I/O signals. To gain skills to test and tune various electrical control functions. To gain knowledge in C programming. Education or experience Should possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering preferably in electrical, else in controls & instrumentation, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Problem solving Able to analyse a control scheme and divide it into sequences and sub-functions. Able to analyse the plant operating data to identify the problem. Able to analyse the plant’s control schemes to identify the cause of problem. Learn to be able to analyse the customer inputs or plant operating data to identify problems and to design control logic to solve engineering and commissioning issues. Persuasion skills To engage in effective interactions with immediate manager, other engineers and support personnel. To have a good interface with team members to complete project assignments. To have effective communication skills with PWS offices and customers.
