Software engineering is driving the front-end of innovation, and an essential innovation capability across all Philips Businesses. As a Software Capability Lead, you are a recognized thought leader in software engineering excellence. You will provide technical and architectural leadership and have accountability to understand current and future Business needs. You will use this insight together with your own thought leadership to define current and future capability roadmaps for to bring Philips to the first rank in software engineering. Those capabilities may take the form of competencies, processes, tools, and data models that support the Businesses in software development, deployment, and/or sustainment. You will work with a cross-functional team to translate these choices into plans, orchestrate development, and ensure delivery to the Businesses in-line with quality and performance targets, while also maintaining overall lifecycle of the capabilities.
Your role:
Provide content expertise to establish and support the adoption of standards, best practices, and governance for software engineering across the organization
Define and maintain the current and future capability landscape and technical choices for software engineering, aligned with the needs and strategy of the Business Units
Provide senior technical and architectural guidance and oversight to all Software Capability programs and projects as well as software-related elements in other capability areas, ensuring quality, performance, and compatibility across domains
Evaluate and recommend new or emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies that can enhance the software engineering capabilities
Provide mentoring and coaching (indirect leadership) to software architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Communicate and influence effectively with senior stakeholders, peers, and external partners on software engineering matters. Act as the senior technical partner when engaging with Philips suppliers and partners on topics related to software engineering infrastructure, tools, training, or standards
This role will be a part of the global Software Excellence team, and will be situated in our Bangalore Innovation hub
Key performance indicators for this role will include measures of:
Delivery of new capabilities to Businesses on time and with quality
Adoption/usage of new capabilities by BUs
Development of a Business aligned funnel of capabilities in software engineering
You're the right fit if:
Advanced degree in business or technical field or equivalent working experience
18+ years of progressive software engineering with at least 5 years in a senior technical leadership position, with demonstrated experience in designing and implementing complex software systems and architectures that are scalable, reliable, and maintainable. Knowledge of regulated industries is preferred
Proven track record of 5+ years leading major change and improvement programs in software engineering organizations. This change experience should be demonstrable via specific responsibilities and results through leadership of mixed technical and organizational programs such as implementation of agile / SAFe, DevSecOps, CI/CD, SRE, cloud or SaaS transition, major architectural change programs, or similar
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with sensitivity to complex organizational structures, varying cultures, and potentially conflicting goals is critical. Demonstrated history of successfully working in globally distributed teams and interacting with executive / top management is required
