A Senior Engineer is responsible for designing and developing entire engineering solutions to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of this role include ensuring that solutions are well architected, with maintainability and ease of testing built in from the outset, and that they can be integrated successfully into the end-to-end business process flow. They will have gained significant experience through multiple implementations and have begun to develop both depth and breadth in a number of engineering competencies. They have extensive knowledge of design and architectural patterns. They will provide engineering thought leadership within their teams, and will play a role in mentoring and coaching of less experienced engineers.

Your key responsibilities

  • Work as part of a delivery team collaborating with others to understand requirements, analyze and refine stories, design solutions, implement/test them and support them in production
  • Drive and support the prioritization of User Stories and Backlog definition, in order to streamline execution of program priorities while aligning the product with the underlying architecture
  • Write code and write it well. Be proud to call yourself a programmer. You closely collaborate with users, analysts, developers and testers. Use test driven development, write clean code and refactor constantly
  • Define and evolve the architecture of the components you are working on. Contribute to architectural decisions at a department and bank-wide level.
  • Ensure that the software you build is reliable and easy to support in production. Be prepared to take your turn on call providing 3rd line support when it’s needed
  • Ensure that your team can build, test and release software with short lead times and a minimum of waste. Work to develop and maintain a highly automated Continuous Delivery

 

Your skills and experience

  • Deep knowledge of Java, the JVM, object orientation and SOLID principles
  • Significant development experience, working within an agile environment and using modern engineering practices
  • Understanding of Business Canvas models applied to agile as well as prioritisation techniques such as RICE, MoSCOW, Value vs Effort, Kano model, Story Mapping and Opportunity scoring  
  • Experience of Docker and Kubernetes as well as exposure to a range of modern build tools, such as Maven, Jenkins, etc.
  • Using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery to ensure that changes can be done quickly and safely Extensive knowledge in Financial Services environments, especially around Customer Master Data Management, KYC plus regulatory and tax reporting.
  • Architecture and design approaches that support rapid, incremental and iterative delivery, such as Domain Driven Design, CQRS, Event Sourcing and Microservices
  • Extensive knowledge in modern Javascript frameworks e.g. React, Angular, HTML5, Bootstrap, Node.js. and of the REST principles and associated technologies
  • Understanding of creating and manipulating data on a Hadoop environment using HDFS, Impala and Python libraries, such as PySpark
  • Deep knowledge of SQL and relational databases

The IT Application Owner (ITAO) is accountable for the Application Management of portfolio of applications. The ITAO has to ensure that the application(s) are enhanced and maintained in accordance to the Bank's IT Security Risk and Compliance requirements. The Technology Roadmap within DB and the Business plans. JOB DESCRIPTION This role will be responsible for working as a member of a database team delivering SDLC  database services for application development teams and supporting database application code.  The ideal candidate for this position should have 5+ years worth of experience in database development and administration.  The candidate must be a self-starter with strong problem solving and communication skills and ready to dive into FX business area.      Our database is a core component for Trade Processing applications and Risk Management Systems in the Bank. It holds all the FX Trades related data (futures, swaps, options,  etc) and responsible for cash balance calculations, positions aggregation, funding and other business process along with regular housekeeping, archiving and related maintenance. 4 node RAC with 10Tb real data and 2000 TPS (avg). The database constantly growing and new FX business areas are in our book of work for the next 2 years.   We use Oracle Exadata Cloud at Customer as a platform for prod and uat databases (~100 databases). More than 200 dev instances are hosted on standalone servers.
