Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is looking for resources for an Associate Mechanical Systems Design and Analysis Engineer to work in areas such as Systems Engineering, Flight Test Instrumentation & Lab Test Equipment System Design for aircraft testing purposes. This position will be located in the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center, Bangalore, India and reports to the Manager, - Design Engineering, and Boeing Test & Evaluation India.

These resources applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • These resources will be responsible for applying Model Based System Engineering and Model Based Engineering for BT&E Flight Test and Lab Test Use Cases and Digital Engineering
  • Typically using applications like 3DX, CAMEO / MSOSA, SysML and DOORs
  • These resources will be responsible for mechanical design of wide range of flight test installations including electronic component enclosures, sensors, access provisions and wire routes etc.
  • Designs are typically documented using CATIA / UG NX and maintained in a variety of Boeing & BT&E databases / PLM such as ENOVIA / TEAMCENTER
  • Provides inputs for technical quality review of the development and documentation of mechanical, fluid systems and thermal environment to establish the system design relating to flight instrumentation.
  • Develops and manages the Engineering Releases to meet Drawing Release Schedule time lines
  • Provide inputs to Technical leads for coordination with Program Engineering (Project, Stress, etc) to ensure safety of designs.
  • Prepare technical documents using analytical approaches and performing spatial integration at system or component level and modification of various Flight Test equipment and assemblies.
  • The candidate shall provide periodic update on project progress, quality metrics, project summaries, and other related documents.
  • Contribute to productivity improvement through use of Quality Management System and lean principles.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master from an accredited university in engineering preferably in Mechanical / Aerospace with 2-5 years of experience in aerospace domain.
  • Understanding of Aero plane structure and various sections
  • Demonstrated proficiency in design for mechanical components
  • Demonstrated experience in Model Based Engineering for multiple projects
  • General awareness of Aircraft Flight Testing and Lab testing, flight test instrumentation.
  • Strong demonstrated capability to perform classical hand calculations and basic experience in CAE tools is desirable
  • Good engineering discipline with demonstrated ability to start with requirements, design & development and release to meet the requirements
  • Be a self-starter, able to work independently with minimum supervision, positive attitude and highest ethics
  • Pro-actively seek information and direction to successfully complete the statement of work
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team. Must be willing to work flexible hours (early or late as needed) to interface with Boeing personnel around the world

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Engineering CAD tools: Experience in 3DX, CAMEO/MSOSA, CATIA / UG – ENOVIA / TEAM CENTER
  • Generative shape design, Part design, Assembly design, Sheet metal design, Tubing, Drafting
  • Drafting: Proficiency in drafting standards (ANSI Y14.5M-2009), GD&T, design for manufacturability
  • Knowledge of JIRA / Azure Dev Ops (ADO) Project Management is advantageous.
  • Office applications: Word, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint
  • Language: Fluency in reading, writing & speaking in English

Position Responsibilities: Develop Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) models for systems of system. Provide MBSE/SysML expertise and related support to the entire systems engineering team Integrate models to modern requirements management, architecture, and systems engineering software Perform functional and logical decomposition of system and develop requirements, perform three way mapping of requirements, functions and logical elements. Participate in converting document-based to model-based architectures, refactoring of existing models Ability to use of multiple architecture frameworks, tools, and methodologies. Ability to identify and implement model-based architecture and engineering methods and standards Perform system modeling of various aircraft systems/components and also modelling of various business process of Boeing enterprise using respective profiles and framework. Develop and extend system models using existing requirements, interface documentation, and related design and systems engineering documents Link / Trace system models to requirements, architecture, design and various artifacts from product lifecycle. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions Demonstrate excellence in use of Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and systems modeling methods, at least one systems modeling tool: (preferred) NoMagic, Magic Draw or IBM Rational Rhapsody; others considered if applicable. Strong written, verbal communication with engineers, management, and non-engineering support staff. Ability to work in a virtual team environment. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of DO178, DO254, DO160 standards. Knowledge of SAE ARP 4754 / 4761 for Systems Engineering aspects. Hands on experience or understanding of any PLM, preferably 3DExperience platform. INCOSE certification on Systems Engineering is an added advantage.
