Position Overview: Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is looking for Associate Environmental Test Engineer to work in the Structural, Material, Environmental and Mechanical Test capability for the existing and future production aircraft testing purposes. This position will be located in the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center, Bangalore, India and reports to the Manager – Structures Test, Boeing Test & Evaluation India. Position Responsibilities: The successful candidate will perform the following duties: Responsible to support structural, mechanical, environmental and material properties test programs for various Boeing Divisions, including Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA), Boeing Defense Systems (BDS), and Boeing Space Programs. General ability to lead a team to conduct a test, compilation of test sequence, monitor progress of the test and test parameters, and record test activities while being able to accommodate / troubleshoot / maintain any unforeseen events that occur during the test. Gather test requirements, instrumentation and configuration definition, develop test procedures, design and analyze test fixtures, lead in the fabrication and setup of the tests, and lead in the test conduct phase. Knowledge on Aerospace Environmental Testing such as thermal testing, vibration test and others per RTCA DO-160/MIL-810G Participate in data acquisition activities during tests, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection using various sensors and data acquisition systems. Help in analyzing test data and interpreting results to assess the performance and integrity of components and systems. General knowledge and proficiency in the operation, integration, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of test equipment. General knowledge across a wide range of environmental effects and electronic, electrical, software engineering disciplines. Support development of test debrief material. Perform special test procedures as required to support failure investigation. Design support for component and sub-assembly level hardware or software as specified by the Statement of Work. Review standards and regulations to assess the impact on the test plan. Prepare test configuration work instructions and detailed change orders. Coordinate the staging of test hardware. Participate in test readiness reviews, safety reviews and data/control systems checkout to minimize risk. Support equipment maintenance, calibrations and system check-out/validation to satisfy test requirements. Use knowledge in structural design, CAD systems, and analysis concepts, including test techniques and advanced hydraulic operations to design test fixtures and organize test operations. Exhibit a high degree of mechanical aptitude, which includes an understanding of 2D design drawings and manufacturability, producibility and reliability of test hardware designs. Familiar with regulatory framework (DO-160 and Mil-Spec), for warranting safety and regulatory compliance. Coordinate with the business partner, team members, shop (touch-labor) personnel, and other support personnel Conduct research in test technologies to improve lab efficiency and capability Help to lead in the current and future direction of the Boeing Structures Testing capability across the Boeing Enterprise. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) Knowledge of CAD Tools (CATIA, Unigraphics/NX) for Modeling, Drafting, Model Based Definition and PLM software (Enovia, Teamcenter). Hands on experience in Aerospace Environmental Testing such as thermal testing, vibration test and others per RTCA DO-160/MIL-810G Experience with testing, writing test plans, conducting tests, and writing test reports. Experience with the Test Engineering lifecycle: requirements, test design, test documentation/reporting and test execution. Experience in designing test setup, implementing and conducting structural or mechanical lab testing Experience with instrumentation and/or data acquisition systems, measurement devices, and sensor selection. Experience with lab hydraulic control and power systems: servos, actuators, load cylinders, manifolds Experience with sensors including accelerometers, strain gages, thermocouples, load cells, and LVDT devices. Possess knowledge of aircraft structure, materials strengths and properties, design criteria, loading conditions, and processes. Knowledge of DO-160 certification requirements, creation of Qualification Plans, procedure and processes is a plus. Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Mechanical / Aerospace / Automobile / Industrial / Manufacturing or equivalent Engineering Bachelor or higher degree with 5 to 9 years of relevant work experience in test engineering operations and execution.
